In summer 2017 I went to Japan for three weeks together with my brother. Our trip was booked with a travel agency that specialises in vacations in Asia.
This page is a small summary of some interesting moments during our vacation. When I have more spare time, I will start a blog and describe my trip in more detail as well as some Japanese culture.
Going to Japan almost felt like going to another planet. It is a first-world country, but many things are just so different that it almost feels like you are visiting another planet!
While looking around in Hakata, we met this very kind old guy called Mr. Toyonogu. He is 83 years old and 1.47m tall. He showed as around and we were able to see things you would not normally see as a tourist.
We only had one problem, he couldn't speak English at all!
Yikes! We are in the red area! Some people even passed away from the floodings! Let's hope we don't have to deal with those floodings and heavy rain!
The local news told us it had been 30 years since the weather was that bad in Kyuushuu!
We were not allowed to take any pictures inside the museum, so we have to do with this restaurant next to the manga museum.
Tjaard is getting some ice cream.
A really large and really beautiful botanic garden in Kyouto. It is also very quiet giving a really relaxing atmosphere.
On our last day in Japan, we were visiting a temple complex in Hakone and this is a Toori. Most temples in Japan have a Toori as entrance.
Unfortunately, it was too cloudy to see Mount Fuji, but it was very quiet so we could really take our time to enjoy our last day in Japan.
There we are with the whole group. From left to right are: Otto, Tjaard, Folkert, Hanneke, Ryoko and Paul.
Paul and Ryoko, we will miss you! Lets meet again another time!
